We believe your wedding invitations should do more than share logistics. They should reflect the tone of your day, the setting of your venue, and most importantly, you. That’s why we loved working with Lily and Chris on their custom Elkins Estate wedding invitations. Together we created a suite that felt formal, timeless, and perfectly suited to the historic beauty of their venue.

This April, Lily and Chris hosted a black-tie celebration at Elkins Estate in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. The grandeur of the space, with its gilded details and sweeping architecture, inspired the classic design choices we made together. From the color palette to the finishing touches, every element was tailored to reflect their style and set the tone for their guests.

Designing Wedding Invitations Inspired by Elkins Estate

Elkins Estate played a key role in shaping the overall design direction for Lily and Chris’s suite. With its grand interiors, rich textures, and timeless architecture, the venue called for something classic and refined.

The couple also came to us with a clear vision: they wanted their invitations to feel formal with elegant details that reflected the tone of the day. We talked through their color palette — soft white, warm cream, gold, and charcoal — and agreed on a clean, traditional layout with a few personalized touches. The result was a suite that felt rooted in tradition but still completely their own.

From Concept to Keepsake

Starting with a Design Board

Every custom invitation suite begins with a visual foundation. We created a design board that brought together their chosen colors, fonts, and wedding aesthetic. It gave us a shared visual language to work from and made it easier to move into the next phase with confidence.

Refining the Suite

Once we aligned on the direction, we started the first round of proofs. We present all of our couples with two distinct design options to choose from. The initial layout for both design options focused on clean lines, a centered format, and a custom monogram as the focal point. Lily and Chris loved certain elements from both design options. We made changes based on their feedback.

The second round of proofs brought it all together. We finalized the layout, tightened up supporting pieces like the RSVP and details cards, and prepared everything for final approval.

Bringing It All Together

The suite was printed on soft white stock with a smooth finish that matched the tone of the event. Each card was wrapped with a hand-tied silk ribbon and sealed with a gold wax crest — a subtle, tactile finish that elevated the entire set.

We also incorporated a custom envelope liner featuring an illustration of Elkins Estate. It was one of the most personal touches in the suite, connecting the paper goods directly to the venue and giving guests a beautiful preview of the celebration.
