We had the pleasure of designing custom wedding stationery for Emily and Zach’s winter wedding at Pomme Radnor. This project was particularly special for us, since Emily is a part of the Heather Paperie team! Designing her stationery was a unique opportunity to collaborate in a new way. We asked Emily and Zach to share their experience working with us. Today we’re sharing Emily’s thoughts about the custom stationery experience along with a look at all of their beautiful paper!

Hiring Custom Wedding Stationers
Before working with us, how did you feel about handling your wedding invitations?
“I always knew that I wanted to hire a stationer to design my wedding invitations and day-of paper. I wanted the designs to be high quality and to fit perfectly with my wedding aesthetic. It was also really important to me that all of my stationery—from save the dates to thank you notes—be cohesive.”
Was there anything you were initially hesitant about regarding working with stationery designers?
“I knew what sort of general vibe I was going for with my wedding, but I wasn’t sure that I would be able to communicate it well. But you were able to take my thoughts and create designs that perfectly matched what I was going for!”
The Initial Consultation
Emily and Zach’s vision for their wedding was largely inspired by their venue. Pomme is a “woodsy chic” venue set back in a wooded grove on Philadelphia’s Main Line. Light, neutral tones and large windows bring the outdoors into the venue. Pomme was the perfect choice for them. Emily and Zach both love spending time in nature, and they wanted that to be reflected throughout their wedding.
In our consultation, we chatted about ways to incorporate some natural elements into their stationery. Their colors were green and white, and they were looking for something classic with a slightly organic feel.
The first thing we designed was their save the dates. Save the dates set the tone for your wedding; we always design them to coordinate perfectly with your invitations and other day-of paper. During this process, we send over two distinct designs for couples to choose from. If neither feels perfect, you have the opportunity to provide feedback. Then, we refine the design until we get it just right!
These were our first two save the date design proofs:

These designs gave us a great starting point to work from. During this first round of proofs, Emily decided she liked elements from each of the designs. She decided on white cards with green ink, as well as the green envelopes to give a pop of color. In addition, the greenery border from design #2 (right) felt a little too formal, so she ended up choosing the border from design #1.
Their final save the date design turned out beautifully:

After we decided on their perfect greenery, colors, and fonts, we used those same elements in the invitation suite and day of stationery. Keep reading to see how we did that!
The Custom Invitation Process
For Emily and Zach’s invitations, we used the same colors, fonts, and design elements as we did with their save the dates. Their suite included the main invitation, a details card, and a reply card. They opted for traditional mail-in RSVPs because they “wanted to receive happy mail” every day! We love that.

Emily chose the proof on the right for their final invitation design. Some special highlights of their suite included envelope liner artwork, colored envelopes, and a belly band with a greenery design.
How did you feel during the process of creating your invitations?
“It was so easy to work with you because you handled everything for me. The design, the etiquette, the addressing and mailing—I didn’t have to stress about any of it. The design aspect was also a lot of fun! I loved getting to see all the different options for what could be possible. You made wonderful suggestions for design ideas I hadn’t even thought of, such as the belly band.”
What was your favorite part of the custom invitation process?
“My favorite part was seeing my colors and design ideas come to life in the proofs. It was always so exciting to get a message that a proof was ready! I had a vague idea of what style I was going for, but seeing it actually come to life on paper was so neat.”
