When Yasaman reached out to us about her December wedding at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, she knew exactly what she wanted for her invitations: formal and elegant.

“My venue is on the more grand side and has a Parisian vibe, so I’d like my invitations to capture that too.”

Yasaman and Sean wanted sophisticated stationery that matched their formal black tie wedding, but they also needed a streamlined design process with a faster timeline. We knew immediately that our semi-custom collection would be the perfect fit. We created our semi-custom invitations for couples who love a beautiful, proven design but want to make it their own.

Today, we’re sharing everything you need to know about our semi-custom wedding invitations. Plus, see how Yasaman and Sean customized The Caroline Suite for their elegant Palace Hotel wedding.

What Are Semi-Custom Wedding Invitations?

Semi-custom wedding invites give couples the best of both worlds. They start with a professionally designed template that’s already been refined and perfected. However, they can also be fully customizable to reflect your unique wedding vision.

At Heather Paperie, we have three different semi-custom suitesThe Caroline, The Charlotte, and The Kathryn. Each have their own distinct style and layout.

When you choose a semi-custom suite, you can personalize:

  • Colors: Change ink colors and envelope colors to match your wedding palette
  • Fonts: Select from our curated font options to achieve your desired aesthetic
  • Wording: Customize all text to reflect your event details and personal style
  • Embellishments: Add ribbon, wax seals, vellum wraps, or envelope liners
  • Printing methods: Upgrade to letterpress or foil printing for added luxury
  • Paper details: Choose double-thick paper, larger sizes, or colored envelopes

What stays consistent is the overall layout and design structure—the foundation that makes each suite special. This means you get a time-tested, beautifully designed invitation without starting from scratch.

Personalizing The Caroline Suite for a Wedding at the Palace Hotel

The Caroline Suite is one of our most romantic designs. The original design showcases soft pinks, a flowing script font, and a classic monogram surrounded by greenery. Delicate floral watercolor artwork makes it a beautiful choice for romantic celebrations. See for yourself!

Yasaman and Sean had a vision for how they would customize The Caroline suite to make it fully theirs. Their black tie wedding at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco called for something sophisticated and formal.

Initially, Yasaman expressed that she was “worried that there wouldn’t be much flexibility on personalizing the stationery, and that my vision for what I wanted would not come through in the final product.”

However, she noted that from our very first phone call, she knew things would work out smoothly:

“From day one, everything was planned out so well and the communication was super transparent to the point where I knew I’m not going to be neglected as a client.”

Here’s how we transformed The Caroline Suite to match their elegant aesthetic:

Semi-Custom Embellishments for The Caroline Suite

While much of the suite stayed the same, we did make a few key customizations to reach the level of formality Yasaman and Sean were looking for. Perhaps the most striking change was the color. We swapped the soft pink envelopes for rich navy blue envelopes. This instantly elevated the formality of the suite and perfectly coordinated with their winter black tie wedding.

The Caroline Suite traditionally features a romantic, flowing script font, but Yasaman and Sean opted for a more traditional script. And to tie the suite together, we printed all the text in navy blue ink.

The result? A stunning invitation suite that maintained The Caroline’s classic structure and beautiful botanical details while feeling completely custom to Yasaman and Sean’s vision.

“I loved every minute of the creation process! It was so fun getting to choose what I liked and all the details that went into the design, so I felt nothing but excitement and joy.” – Yasaman

The Caroline Suite on the Wedding Day

Yasaman and Sean’s talented wedding photographer, Danny Dong, captured these stunning shots on the day of their wedding. We love seeing how all the details come together!

I LOVED THEM! I received so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful they were, which only made me more giddy about them. They were exactly how I imagined them to be, the exact quality I was looking for, and had the elegance I knew would last for years to come. Emily heard what I had to say, and she delivered the most precious gift.” -Yasaman

Bringing Your Semi-Custom Invites to Life

These thoughtful customizations show exactly why semi-custom works so well. Yasaman and Sean didn’t need to reinvent the wheel—they simply adapted a beautiful existing design to match their specific style. The floral envelope liner still provided that romantic, Parisian-inspired touch Yasaman was looking for, while the navy palette and formal fonts brought the elegance and grandeur their Palace Hotel wedding deserved.

Whether you’re planning a formal black tie affair, a romantic garden celebration, or something else, semi-custom invitations can be tailored to match your unique vision. At Heather Paperie, we believe your wedding stationery should reflect who you are as a couple and set the perfect tone for your celebration—without overwhelming you in the process.
